-Proverbs Reading Challenge-

Hey Everyone! Are you all enjoying this blistering hot day? I am sure am, although I will admit, it is a little hot. :)

I am here this afternoon, with a Proverbs reading challenge. This coming month I am going to challenge myself + I hope you'll join me, to read a chapter of Proverbs everyday + to pick one verse out of that days passage that you want to claim for yourself and just jot it down. At the end of the month, you'll have read the whole book of Proverbs and have a sheet of paper, or journal of verses from each of the Proverbs that you can claim for yourself! The only disclaimer, is that June has only 30 days, while Proverbs has 31 chapters. So, just throughout the month sometime, take time and read that extra chapter.
Leave a comment and let me know if you decide to do it, and then at the end of the month I would love to hear if you accomplished it!!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM and HE will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

side note- I got this idea from a fellow blogger who is doing a June journaling challenge over at joyfullyliving4jesus.blogspot.com. Go on over and check her out! :)

A Relaxing Aid • Bath Salts

Today I have a fun, no food, recipe for you- bath salts! My sisters and I love these and they are perfect for a relaxing bath.

  • 1 cup Epsom salt
  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 15-20 drops essential oil of your choice
  • Food coloring
  • Step 1: Mix the Epsom salt, sea salt, and baking soda in a bowl. Add the oils and stir.

Step 2: Add the food coloring. A little bit goes a long way, and remember, you can always add more to tweak the color. Mix well.

Step 3: Cover your pan with foil and spread the salt mixture evenly over the foil. I used 3 layers of foil. Pop it in the oven for about 15 minutes at 175.

Step 4: Every 5 minutes, take the pan out and gently mix the salts with your spoon. This is why I suggest using 3 sheets of aluminum foil–one might rip.

Step 5: When 15 minutes have passed, take the pan out of the oven and let the salts cool completely, mixing them as they cool. Once they’ve cooled completely, store in air-tight containers and give these as gifts to your lucky friends.

Note: It’s a good idea to let these sit out for a few hours before packaging them, even after they’ve cooled, because it could bust the jar.

    {Snakes}

I know some of you may not want to read this post and while I really don't like snakes, I still had to study them in science this year. Saying that, I do have to admit they are pretty cool creatures that God created. Here are some facts and pictures:
    • Snakes can swallow prey much larger than themselves because of a connective tissue called ligament (lig' uh munt).
    • While the connective tissue ligament allows them to swallow big animals, digesting large creatures makes work for them. Their digestion process is slow and their prey can even rot because it takes so long to digest.

    • We  have 3 poisonous snakes in PA: the rattle snake, copper head, and the eastern massasauga.
      Rattlesnake
    • Snakes, of course, molt. The new skin begins to grow under the old skin and then eventually loosens and is slowly forced back over the body, neck, and head. Its new skin is then bright and shiny again...it must feel wonderful!
    • Most snakes (adult) molt 2-5x a year. Juvenile snakes molt more often because they grow faster.
    • The first time they molt, their egg tooth disappears.
    • Snakes do not blink. They have a thin transparent layer of skin over their eyes which sheds when they molt.
    • The earth really does need snakes. If we wouldn't have snakes, the rat population would quickly take over the world. They also help keep the insect and rodent population under control.
